Skyservice Inc. is a business aviation, air ambulance and charter airline (Skyservice Airlines) based in Montreal, Canada. It employs more than 2000 people and more than 50 business and airline aircraft.
As well as Canada, the Skyservice Airlines division flies to the U.S., Caribbean, Mexico and Europe.
History
Started in 1984.On 2 May 2005 Skyservice introduced the first of two Boeing 767-300 aircraft to its fleet, the first of which entered service on that date with a flight from Toronto to Puerto Vallarta. The aircraft (both formerly with MyTravel Airways) operated summer charters from Toronto to the UK and Europe for Sunquest Tours, and in the winter flew from Vancouver to the Caribbean and Mexico (ref:Air International, July 2005). It is one of the few discount airlines operating in Canada which still offers full meal service.
One of Skyservice's 767s was involved in a landing incident in 2005. (The following are based on preliminary accident reports from the Civil Aviation of the Dominican Republic, and from the Canadian authorities) The co-pilot, who was under training, while landing in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, landed the aircraft hard, and on its nose-gear (which is NOT normal), which resulted in frightened passengers and damage to the aircraft. The cause of the accident started from the training captains failure to take control of the aircraft and basically allowed the new trainee to de-rotate the nose of the aircraft at a faster-than-normal rate. The aircraft was repaired in Punta Cana and is back into service with MyTravel Airways.
