Slalom refers to a
sport in which participants attempt to complete a course, in the fastest time, while passing through marked channels known as
gates. Failing to pass through a gate incurs disqualification. The word slalom originates from the Norwegian word slalåm: "sla," meaning steep hillside, and "låm," meaning the trail after the skis. There are many gates and turns. Slalom and Giant Slalom are two vary similar sports but Giant slalom does not have many turns and the turns are very wide
Examples of this include slalom skiing; slalom canoeing; slalom waterskiing; slalom skating; snowboard parallel giant slalom.
