Slaughter (band)
Encyclopedia : S : SL : SLA : Slaughter (band)
Slaughter first formed in Scarborough (Toronto), Ontario, Canada at the height of new-wave and glamrock and achieved popularity in the early 1990s.
The band formed in 1988 with Mark Slaughter on vocals, Dana Strum as bassist, Tim Kelly on guitars and Blas Elias on drums. Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum had previously played together in Vinnie Vincent Invasion. In 1990 Slaughter hit radio, MTV and the U.S. touring circuit like a tornado coming seemingly out of nowhere to roll through everything in its path. The band had 4 songs hit the Billboard Hot 100 including "Fly To the Angels (#19)", "Up All Night (#27)", "Spend My Life (#39)", and "Real Love (#69)". They returned in 1999 with Back to Reality with Jeff Blando as the new guitarist. Jeff Blando was also in Left For Dead and Saigon Kick.
Previous to Slaughter, Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum were in Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Their former Vinnie Vincent Invasion bandmate Bobby Rock has played as a touring drummer for Slaughter, filling in for Blas Elias.
