Encyclopedia : S : SL : SLE : Sleaze Rock

Sleaze Rock is a subgenre of the Glam Metal genre.

Such bands are noted for having a more raw, less produced sound, a "dirtier" glam image, and raunchier lyrics than many other of their glam metal contemperaries. These bands were seen as the reaction to the overproduced bands whos image had become soft and poppy.

Sleaze Rock includes such bands as , L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, Vain, Roxx Gang, Sleeze Beez, The Dangerous Toys, Britny Fox, Dirty Looks, Johnny Crash, Star Star and Rhino Bucket.

When discussing "sleaze" rock it is important to remember that these subgenre's werent placed on these bands until after the glam metal movement was long over. There is no official sleaze rock genre and these bands werent seen as "sleaze rock" bands when they were putting out music. Because of this some people count certain bands in this group that others do not.
