Slovenian Democratic Party

The Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS — Slovenian: Slovenska demokratska stranka), previously the Social Democratic Party of Slovenia (Slovenian: Socialdemokratska stranka Slovenije) is a political party in Slovenia. It is led by Janez Janša.
At the European election it got 17.7% which yielded 2 seats in the European parliament out of a total 7 from Slovenia. It is a member of the EPP party group.
At the last legislative elections, 3 October 2004, the party won 29.1 % of the popular vote and 29 out of 90 seats. It was given a six-point plurality over the past governing Liberal Democracy of Slovenia (Slovenian: Liberalna Demokracija Slovenije); as of 2005 the SDS leads a governing coalition consisting of four parties.
