Snåsavatnet
Encyclopedia : S : SN : SNS : Snåsavatnet
Snåsavatnet (Snåsa lake) is Norway's 6th largest lake, with an area of approximately 120 sq km. The surface is only 24 m above sea level. Snåsavatnet is located in Steinkjer and Snåsa municipalities in Nord-Trøndelag county. The lake is approximately 40 km long and on average 3 km wide. The lake is created by glacial erosion. As is seen on a map, the lake looks like an extension of the Trondheimsfjord. The outlet is the Byaelva (river), which empties in Beitstadfjorden (an arm of the Trondheimsfjord) in the city of Steinkjer.
