Snake food

As a general rule snakes eat rodents. There are exceptions to this such as the natal green snake which eats insects. Snakes generally pick a few food types to specialise in (for example, royal pythons will  generally eat mice and gerbils in the wild).

Rodents

Snakes generally feed on: Mice
Rats
Gerbils
Hamsters
And, to a lesser extent other rodents such as lemmings

Insects

Snakes which eat live food generally eat the following:
Crickets
Locusts
mealworms
waxworms
Earthworms
Other small insects

Other food items

Other snakes (kingsnakes specialise in this) Lizards Fish Amphibians (garter snakes and ribbon snakes are known for this) And more
