Snapfish is a web-based image sharing and print service currently owned by Hewlett-Packard, which was launched in April, 2000. Snapfish was bought and became a division of HP in 2005, but was originally at startup, funded by @Ventures, the affiliated venture capital arm of CMGI, Mayfield Fund and private investors.
As of 2006, Snapfish claims to have over 19 million members, and houses over 350 million unique digital pictures. Snapfish Online is based out of San Francisco, California. In 2004, Snapfish opened a physical retail store in Alexandria, Virginia, but they are not currently maintaining the retail stores. Instead, Snapfish supports Retail Pickup at selected locations in Walgreens, Costco and other local photo finishers.
Snapfish claims to have some of the lowest prices for its kind of services, 4x6 Photos are $0.12 each and only $0.10 each if pre-ordered.
