Social welfare may refer to:
- Welfare is used to refer to both to people's well-being, and to systems which are designed to provide for people.
- Social welfare is often synonymous with the profession of social work.
- In economics, the utility of people considered in aggregate. (See Welfare economics and social welfare function.)
- The provision of a wide range of social services, for the benefit of individual citizens. All collective interventions to meet certain needs of the individual and/or to serve the wider interests of society may be broadly grouped into categories of welfare. This usage is closely related to the idea of the welfare state.
