Sodium fluoride is an ionic compound whose formula is NaF.
It was once used to fluoridate water; however, hexafluorosilicic acid (H2SiF6) and its salt (Na2SiF6) are more commonly used, especially in the United States.
Sodium fluoride is also an ingredient in toothpaste that prevents cavities.
