Sohawa is one of the Tehsils (sub-divisions) of District Jhelum, located in north-western part of district. Also at Sohawa, there is a toll plaza by the name of 'Tarakki' (Industry) Toll Plaza on the GT Road.
Near Sohawa is an old historic village named Dewan-e-Hazoori (Old name Bishandaur). Dewan-e-Hazoori With a population of around 1,000, it is quite a big village, surrounded by several "dhok" (smaller colonies, inhabited primarily by people of the same family). For example, Rala(n). The most important site of the village is the Darbar of Baba Dewan-e-Hazoori. People from all around the world attend a week of festivities 3 weeks after the month of Ramadan ( 19,20,21 shawaal ) every year. honour Baba Dewan-e-Hazoori. This years "Ooras" will be held on the 25 of November 2005.
The temple of Shab Ud Din Ghauri is also situated here. Shab Ud Din Ghauri was killed during
his stay at village Kot Dhamiak , and his grave is found after launching of Pakistan's
missile Ghauri, and then Dr. A.Q Khan supported its construction , and now it is being visited by
hundreds of people every year.
Sohawa is an important city of Potohar. It has rich Potohari culture, every year a lot of traditional fares
and games are arranged in its surroundings.
I am from city of Sohawa. it is rich in culture different paople pretty scenery. A market place for villages surrounding this booming city.
We love Dewan e hazoori and my eyes are booring me because i can not watch the most lovly beautilful Mazar temple. MY name is Raja Bilal Tariq. i live their. main coasts of this villag are SAYED and Rajputs. this village is the largest village of sohawa. the people in DEWan-e-hazaori are very qualified . people of ma grand father age was in British army i belong to great grand son of RAJA GULAB KHAN who is father of RAJA Mohammed Sarwer. in dewna-e-hazaori village awan is the sub coast of RAJPUTS. single awans are not rajputs they are khumar (go mwti ka burten banatay hain )
