Sonamukhi

Sonamukhi is a city and a municipality in Bankura district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Geography

Sonamukhi is located at [23.3° N 87.42° E][Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Sonamukhi]. It has an average elevation of 66 metres (216 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census^{[Geographic references#IndiaGRIndia]}, Sonamukhi had a population of 27,348. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Sonamukhi has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 64%. In Sonamukhi, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
