Soroca is a city in the north of Moldova with a population in 2004 of 52,400. Its geographic location is [48°10′N 28°18′E]. It is well known for its excellently preserved stronghold, established by King Stephen the Great (Ştefan cel Mare in Romanian) in 1489.
