Encyclopedia : S : SO : SOU : Soul Plane

Soul Plane is a 2004 motion picture from MGM, released in the United States on May 28, 2004. The predominantly African-American comedy stars Method Man, Tom Arnold, Sommore,D.L. Hughley, Mo'Nique Imes-Jackson, K.D. Aubert, John Witherspoon, Loni Love, Ryan Pinkston, Godfrey, Ying Yang Twins, Francine Dee, Lil' Jon, and Snoop Dogg.

Sometimes compared to Johnson Family Vacation; Soul Plane is the story of a man who gets stuck in an airplane toilet, wins a large settlement from the airline, and decides to use that money to start an airline that caters to African Americans.

A white family is mistakenly booked on Soul Plane's first flight. The father of the family is not generally amused by this, but the rest of the family seems to enjoy the rap music and velvet seats.

The plane they use in this movie is unique. It contains a hip hop club, strippers, and a very posh First Class area. The exterior of the plane is covered in purple velvet and the plane features low-rider hydraulics.

Snoop Dogg plays the pilot (a la Don Cornelius) and smokes marijuana while flying the plane.

There are in fact 2 versions of this movie. In the thetratical version, the plane lands at Central Park, New York. In the other version known as the uncut version because there some scence that were cut from movie, the plane actually lands at Las Vegas and the credits feature outakes including the enitire cast dancing to 50 Cent's "In Da Club" and Snoop Dogg wakes up at the end of the credits where he tells the viewers he wasn't dead and to expect a sequel.(Unlike the thetractical version where he wakes up to find out that he has been robbed.) This uncut version appears to be only avalible in pirated copies of the movie.[[Citing sources citation needed]]
