Souris is a town located on the northeastern part of the Prince Edward Island, Canada. As of 2001, the population was 1,248.
Located in an area famous for its beaches the town is sometimes known as the "gateway to Basin Head". Souris started as a fishing village, founded by the Acadians in 1727, and gradually growing over the years to become the largest town in the eastern end of the Island. The economy of the area is fueled by farming and the fisheries, with tourism growing quickly as well.
The town is named after the French word for mouse. Souris was infested by several mice plagues in the 18th century.
The ferry for Iles de la Madeleine also comes into Souris for most of the year.
