South Miami Senior High School is a secondary school located at 6856 S.W. 53rd Street in South Miami, Florida; its principal is Craig V. Speziale.
The school is about a mile and a half west of the University of Miami. It contains a magnet program, officially named the Celia Cruz School of the Arts, which offers programs in seven strands: Media Production, Computer Graphics, Music, Photography, Commercial Arts, Dance, and Drama. As the alma mater says, the "hope and pride" of South Miami Senior opened its doors to students for the first time on November 10, 1971. The original student body selected the Cobra mascot and the school colors of orange, brown, and white, the team colors of the NFL Cleveland Browns (ironically, it was during the 1971-72 school year the Miami Dolphins won the Super Bowl). Today the Cobra mascot reigns from its third story roof, greeting all who pass by "Cobra Country" on Miller Road.
South Miami's Athletic Rival is Miami Sunset High School
