South Yemeni dinar

Encyclopedia : S : SO : SOU : South Yemeni dinar

The dinar was the currency of South Yemen between 1965 and 1991. It was divided into 1000 fils.

The dinar replaced the East African shilling at a rate of 20 shillings = 1 dinar, thus setting the dinar initially equal to the pound sterling. The dinar was replaced by the rial following unification with North Yemen. The exchange rate was 1 dinar = 26 rials.
