Spaccanapoli is a group from Naples - historically a crossroads for the cultures of the whole Mediterranean region. Our music is rooted in traditions that go back further and deeper than Catholic rituals to the pre- Christian rites of Dionysus. This is the expression of the working people- pulsing drums, impassioned vocals, the wild dances of the Tarantella and Tammurriata - the vibrant energy of the street carnival celebrated in the shade of the smouldering Vesuvius. The members of the band are Monica Pinto (lead vocal), Marcello Colasurdo (lead vocal, tammorra), Antonio Fraioli (Violin, acoustic piano, percussion), Oscar Montalbano (acoustic guitar, base), Franco Dell'Amore (acoustic and electric guitars).
Spaccanapoli has released only one album, "Lost Souls", or "Aneme Perze". The songs on this album are as follows:
1. Pummarola Black 2. O' Mare 3. Sant' Anastasia 4. Palummiello 5. Vesuvio 6. A' Ferriera 7. Aneme Perze 8. O' Munachino 9. Siente Munacie' 10. MIezzo A Festa 11. O' Rinillo O' Rinello 12. Vesuvio Reprise 13. Piazza Dante 14. Santa Notte
It can be said that Spaccanapoli was introduced to America by the HBO original series, The Sopranos.
