Spare Change News is a street newspaper published in Cambridge, Massachusetts through the efforts of the Homeless Empowerment Project, a grassroots organization created to help end homelessness (from their website, [link]).

As of 2006, each vendor of the paper typically receives $.75 for every $1.00, per issue he or she sells; they are allowed to keep any money that is given to them over the $1.00 price of each paper.

The biweekly, 16-page paper contains a color front page, news, features, interviews, stories, poetry and classified ads that are all written by people who are homeless or who work with the homeless. A full page is devoted to listings of centers for job/skills training, senior care, women's care, drug recovery programs, and homeless shelters that one can participate in.

Circulation is roughly 10,000 per issue.
