The spiritual world (or spirit world) is another name for afterlife. The term spiritual world connotes the afterlife for all spirits awaiting the resurrection of the physical body, as a temporary existence unseen by the physical world, but real nonetheless. According to most Christian beliefs, afterlife continues after the resurrection, in a new physical world for eternity.
In Latter Day Saints theology, the term spirit world has a specific meaning, referring to the realm where the spirits of the dead await the Resurrection. For more information see Spirit world.
