Spittal an der Drau is an Austrian town. The town of Spittal is located in the western part of the Austrian federal state of Carinthia, and the administrative center of the federal state's largest district, Spittal an der Drau. Spittal has a population of about 16,000 people.
In the town centre there is one of the most beautiful renaissance castles in Austria, Schloss Porcia. At Schloss Porcia there is an annual festival for classical comedies (Komoedienspiele Porcia). Spittal´s Mayor is Gerhard P. Koefer of the Austrian Socialdemocrats.
