Spock, Messiah! (1976) is one of the first "spin-off" novels based in the Star Trek universe, by Theodore R. Cogswell and Charles Spano, Jr.

Plot summary

When an experiment with telepathic implants goes horriby wrong, Mr. Spock renounces his life on the Starship Enterprise to become the Messiah of the planet Kyros. In so doing, he launches a holy war on the rest of the world.
