The St. Paul Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: [STA]
The St. Paul Travelers Companies, Inc., through its subsidiaries and nearly 11,000 agent and brokerage firms, provides commercial and personal property and casualty insurance products and services to businesses, government units, associations, and individuals in the United States. The company offers insurance through three segments, Commercial, Specialty, and Personal, primarily under the Travelers brand:
- The Commercial segment offers various property and casualty insurance and insurance-related services to its clients through independent agencies and brokers.
- The Specialty segment provides various insurance coverage and services through underwriting, claims handling, and risk management groups.
- The Personal segment writes various types of property and casualty insurance covering personal risks. Its products are distributed through independent agents and sponsoring organizations, such as employee and affinity groups, as well as through joint marketing arrangements with other insurers.
The St. Paul Companies was founded in 1853 and Travelers Property Casualty Corp. was founded in 1864.
