Stan Jones

Encyclopedia : S : ST : STA : Stan Jones

Stan Jones was a Libertarian Party candidate from Montana for the United States Senate in 2002, unsuccessfully challenging Democrat Max Baucus. There is also a mystery writer from Alaska named Stan Jones.

Jones developed argyria, which permanently turned his skin a blue-grey color, by consuming home-made colloidal silver which he made due to fears the Year 2000 problem would make antibiotics unavailable. The peculiar coloration of his skin featured prominently in media coverage of his unsuccessful campaign. [link]

Jones continues to promote the use of colloidal silver as a home remedy, though, upon detailing his methods of production leading up to his argyric condition, it has been established that he was using plain, unfiltered water (possibly tap water) and salt. Other users of colloidal silver claim one must use distilled water and preferably nothing else added, so as to avoid other silver compounds that promote argyria being produced.

He has said that his good health, minus the unusual skin tone, is the result of his use of colloidal silver. He does, however, admit that he overdosed on the antibiotic elixir.
