"Stand Inside Your Love" is a song by The Smashing Pumpkins. It was the official first single from their fifth album, MACHINA/The Machines of God (2000) and the first single released with Jimmy Chamberlin back in the band. "Stand Inside..." was written by Billy Corgan. The single contains one b-side, a mellow song "Speed Kills", which appears in a shortened form on MACHINA, and in a heavy incarnation on the band's following album MACHINA II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music.
Technically speaking, "The Everlasting Gaze" was the first taste of material from MACHINA..., with a radio promotional single released, and a high-energy music video filmed with new band member Melissa Auf der Maur. "Stand Inside..." was ultimately released as the first single, although most consider "The Everlasting Gaze" to also be a single from the album, despite not having an official release. "Stand Inside..." was initially conceived to be similar of new wave style of the band's earlier hit "1979"; however, Corgan opted for what he considered, "the classic Pumpkins sound". Corgan has also stated that this was the first "true" love song he had ever written. This was explained and shown by Billy Corgan during a story segment of VH1's "Storytellers".
The music video of "Stand Inside..." is a tribute to the play Salomé by Oscar Wilde. Billy Corgan created a video look together with an English director Wiz under a heavy influence of an original Salomé illustrations by Aubrey Beardsley. Corgan's then-time girlfriend Yelena Yemchuk played the main character in the video.
Sharon Osbourne cited her dislike for the music video, along with her conflicts with Corgan, as a motive for her departure from the band's management.
