In order to intuitively test the effects of an image-processing algorithm on a "natural picture" a number of <strong>test images</strong> are in common use in the image-processing field. These images are generally chosen because they present a range of challenges to image reconstruction algorithms, such as the reproduction of fine detail and textures, sharp transitions and edges, and uniform regions. The most famous image is the <a href="/term/Lenna">Lenna</a> image, from a photograph of 1972 Playboy bunny <a href="/term/Lena_Soderberg">Lena Soderberg</a>.<p>
