Star Wolf (Star Fox)
Encyclopedia : S : ST : STA : Star Wolf (Star Fox)
Star Wolf is a fictional villain team of mercenaries in the Star Fox series of video games. They are led by Wolf O'Donnell and are considered rivals of the protagonists, the Star Fox team.
The Wolfen is the team's primary spacecraft, which is at least on par with or perhaps even slightly better than Star Fox's Arwing. However, in the fight with Star Wolf on Venom (going the hard route) in Star Fox 64, they would pilot their new and improved ships, called the Wolfen II.
History
Star Wolf in Star Fox 2
Team Star Wolf was set to make its first appearance in Star Fox 2 for the SNES, but the game was cancelled and some of its original ideas, including Star Wolf, were salvaged and put into Star Fox 64.In Star Fox 2, the battles would be one-on-one in an open range arena between the player's character and one of the members of the Star Wolf team. These battles would happen when trying to attack one of Andross' planet bases or a battleship. Wolf himself would only fight the player before they must go to Solar to defeat Andross.
Members
- Wolf O'Donnell- The leader of Star Wolf, he's the last Star Wolf member the player faces in the game and he seems to have a grudge against Star Fox for an unknown reason. Age: 28
- Leon Powalski- Another member of the team. Like his name suggests, he is a chameleon, and likes to compliment his abilities. Age: 29
- Pigma Dengar- A pig, he seems to be the oldest member of the Star Wolf team, and likely the most experienced pilot. Age: 36
- Algy- Algy appears to be some kind of a lemur or a monkey. Future Star Wolf member Andrew Oikonny was believed to be his replacement. Age: unknown.
Star Wolf in Star Fox 64
In Star Fox 64, the team of Star Wolf was first hired by Andross to destroy the Star Fox team. Known as one of the game's tougher enemies, they were given the command of a small troop to attack the Cornerian base on Fortuna. There they were defeated by Star Fox and their Wolfens were destroyed (interestingly enough, if the player shoots the Wolfen as it is going down the user can blow it up mid-air, which in turn causes the portrait box to flash white, as if to show the Star Wolf member being blown up inside the Wolfen—though they can still reappear later in the game as if they weren't blown up).If the player managed to get to Venom by Area 6, Star Wolf would reappear with improved Wolfen IIs (the main feature of these being shields that block charge-up shots and bombs, so the player must use only their lasers to take them down). Star Wolf may also appear on Bolse Station if the player chooses to follow that route to Venom. However, unlike on the hard route Venom (which Star Wolf always appears at), if the player defeats every member of Star Wolf on Fortuna, they will not reappear at Bolse Station. If only part of the Star Wolf team was defeated on Fortuna, then the remaining members will return to fight at Bolse Station.Members
- Wolf O'Donnell was the leader of Star Wolf, hired by Andross to defeat Star Fox. He has a rivalry against Fox McCloud for unknown reasons.
- Leon Powalski seems to have a rivalry with Falco, as he is the one who he targets during their encounters.
- Pigma Dengar was part of the original Star Fox team formed by James McCloud, Peppy Hare and himself. Due to greed, he betrayed and captured James and Peppy for money, and tried to chase Peppy on his escape to "complete the work" but failed. Afterwards, James was supposedly killed. Shortly, he joined Star Wolf. His last name, Dengar, might be a reference to the bounty hunter of that name from Star Wars.
- Andrew Oikonny was the nephew of Andross and a somewhat skilled fighter. Being the most inexperienced of the four, he targets Slippy, his closest match in terms of flying skill.
Star Wolf in Star Fox: Assault
Shortly after Andross's (supposed) death (in Star Fox Adventures), Star Wolf used an abandoned space station in the Sargasso Space Zone as a hideout. Pigma was kicked out of the team for his greed, and Andrew left the team to prepare a rebellion (but he still remained on their side). Therefore, the Star Wolf Team in Star Fox: Assault featured only three members, unlike four previously. Some years later, the Star Fox team took over the hideout in search of Pigma Dengar. When Corneria was invaded by s, Star Wolf helped Star Fox to destroy the invading Aparoids and to protect Corneria's Orbital Gate from the Aparoids. Star Wolf "sacrificed" themselves so Star Fox could reach the Aparoid Queen on the Aparoid Homeworld. It is unknown if they truly survived or not, but Fox McCloud believes they did.

- Wolf O'Donnell, sometimes referred to as Lord O'Donnell, he is the leader of Star Wolf and the Sargasso Space Zone. He maintains his rivalry with Fox for unknown reasons. Strange thing is, he has saved Fox McCloud to prove that he will be the only one to "tan his hide."
- Leon Powalski is a skilled assassin, second in command of the Star Wolf team. He tries to kill Falco. He is the only other member besides Wolf who was in the Star Wolf team in Star Fox 64.
- Panther Caroso is a ladies man (or thinks he is), a very skilled Wolfen fighter. He is often found flirting with Krystal as well as any other women he sees. He was recruited after Andrew and Pigma left the team. His symbol is a red rose. He says anyone who sees his rose shall die.
Star Fox Command
Their role in this game is unknown so far, but game art depicts a wanted sign for the same 3 members from Assault. It is also revealed that a Wolfen is playable. However, it is unknown who among the team will be played.References
