State Law and Order Restoration Council

SLORC, or the State Law and Order Restoration Council was the name of the military government of Myanmar between September 1988 and November 1997.
SLORC was formed when the armed forces, commanded by General Saw Maung, seized power in September 1988, replacing the constitutional government and installing General Saw Maung as the chairman and Prime Minister.
In November 1997 SLORC was replaced by the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC); however, this was essentially just a renaming as the leadership did not change.
