The Honourable Stephanie Key BA JP MP, Australian politician, is the former South Australian Minister for Employment, Training & Further Education, Minister for Youth, Minister for the Status of Women. She also represents the Electoral district of Ashford in the South Australian House of Assembly and is a member of the Australian Labor Party.
Key was born at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She attended Largs Bay Primary School, Port Adelaide Girls Technical High School, Marryatville Adult Education School. She attended Flinders University, where she was elected General Secretary of the Students Association. Key completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in politics and sociology and entered positions in the Labor movement, including as a Senior Industrial Officer-Advocate for the Transport Workers Union.
Elected as a member of parliament in 1997, Key was immediately appointed as a shadow minister and when Labor won government in 2002, she was appointed to the portfolios of Youth, Status of Women, Housing and Social Justice. After a cabinet reshuffle in 2004, Key lost Social Justice and Housing and gained Employment, Training and Further Education.
