Stephen Moore (born December 11, 1937) is a British actor from Brixton, London.
He is the son of the solicitor Stanley Moore. He is known for his distinctive speaking voice in a wide range of roles. His step-brother Mark Moore performs with S'Express and his brother-in-law was the actor James Hazeldine. He has been married four times. His daughter Rebecca Moore became an actress.
Roles
- the voice of Marvin the Paranoid Android in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. In the original radio version, he also played a number of minor characters including Gag Halfrunt and the ruler of the universe.
- John Jolly in Clockwise
- the father of Adrian Mole in the two ITV series
- the father of Kevin the Teenager in a comedy series by Harry Enfield.
- Jack, left-wing teacher and morose husband of singer Anna in Rock Follies. The role can be seen as a prototype for Marvin.
- George Smith, main character in Colin Swash's SciFi radio commedy Paradise Lost in Cyberspace (1998, BBC)
