Stephen P. Webb was elected to the Beverly Hills City Council in March, 2003 and is currently serving as mayor. For the past year, he has been serving as vice mayor. Prior to becoming a councilmember, he was a city commissioner for 11 years. Mr. Webb was a member of the Beverly Hills Traffic and Parking Commission from 1992 to June 1997 and served as vice chair and chair. In June 1997, he was appointed to the City's Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Adjustments and Planning Agency, and served as vice chair in 2000 and chair in 2001. He continued to serve on this commission until elected to the City Council.
Mayor Webb has been a practicing attorney for over 30 years and served on the Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and is on the mediation/arbitration panel for the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Mr. Webb grew up in Beverly Hills and graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1963. He received a bachelor of arts degree from California State University, Northridge in 1967. In 1971 he was awarded his juris doctor from the University of San Diego, School of Law, and was on its Law Review.
Mr. Webb has been active in many civic, educational, cultural and humanitarian service organizations. He was a member of the steering committee of the Beverly Hills General Plan; the governing board of Century City Hospital; the board of directors of Beverly Hills Community Sports Center; director and coach of Beverly Hills youth sports leagues; and was actively involved with the Beverly Hills Education Foundation, Jewish Big Brothers and Maple Counseling Center. He is a former director of Temple Emanuel; a member of the Metropolitan Rail Committee and served as co-chair of the Beverly Hills Livable Streets Committee.
