Steven Meisel (b. 1954) is an American photographer, who obtained popular acclaim with his photographs of Madonna in the latter's 1992 coffee table book Sex.
Meisel currently photographs for many different magazines, including US, UK, and Italia Vogue, W, Visionaire, and others. He almost always has a major editorial and shoots the cover for Italian Vogue. Meisel is credited with "discovering" model Karen Elson and recently he has propelled models Heather Bratton and Coco Rocha to fame by regularly featuring them in Italian Vogue.
He studied at the High School of Art and Design and Parsons School of Design.
