Stevenage Borough F.C. are an English football team based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, currently playing in Conference National, the top division of the Nationwide Conference.
The club was formed in 1976 and reached its apex in 1995-96 when it won the GM Vauxhall Conference Championship, but was denied promotion to Division Three of the Football League because its Broadhall Way Stadium did not meet the required total capacity of 6,000 (including 1,000 seats) for league grounds.
The closest they have come since was defeat to Carlisle United in the Conference play-off final in 2005.
Stevenage Borough gained international fame in early 1998 when they reached the 4th Round of the FA Cup, drawing Newcastle United of the Premiership. After Guiliano Grazioli's equaliser at Broadhall Way gained Boro' a replay at St. James' Park, the Conference side eventually went down 2-1 courtesy of a disputed Alan Shearer goal.Clearly the ball didn't cross the line.
Stevenage Borough's new manager is Mark Stimson, previously of Grays Athletic.
