Stigmatized property
Encyclopedia : S : ST : STI : Stigmatized property
The term stigmatized property is a real estate business jargon that describes a normal house stigmatized because someone has been murdered or committed suicide in it. A house widely believed to be "haunted" is also a "stigmatized property".
Even though the buyer may not care about it, a "stigmatized" residence could be very difficult to resell in the future. Therefore, with or without any belief in supernatural phenomena, a buyer may want to know a house's possibly bloody past. However, depending on the jurisdiction of the house, the seller may not be required to disclose the whole story.
