Sto-Rox School District

Encyclopedia : S : ST : STO : Sto-Rox School District

The Sto-Rox School District is the school district that educates the youth of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania and Stowe Township, Pennsylvania, located less than ten minutes from Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in Allegheny County.

The Sto-Rox School District was formed in the 1960's, when Stowe Township School District and the School District of the Borough of McKees Rocks, combined, thus making "Sto-Rox". The district's official colors are green and white.

Sto-Rox High School (located in the building that was formerly Stowe High School) is located in Stowe Township on Valley Street. It was built in 1926, but has since had numerous additions and renovations take place.

Oddly enough, the Sto-Rox Elementary School and Sto-Rox Middle School are located in Kennedy Township, a Montour School District area. They are both located adjacent to each other on Ewing Road. The Elementary School was built in 1997, the Middle School in 2002.

All students in the Sto-Rox School district attend Foster Kindergarten, located on Russellwood Avenue. Foster Kindergarten is a beautiful old historic building that recently underwent a major renovation and is in excellent condition.
