Strabag is a European construction company based in Spittal, Austria. Founded by Anton Lerchbaumer in 1835, the company grew and as of 2005 is the largest construction company in Germany. Strabag's current CEO is Hans Peter Haselsteiner, revenues were € 9.8 billion in 2005 with a workforce of 40,000 employees.
The company has recently gotten some negative publicity in Bulgaria, due to its failure to complete Sofia Airport reconstruction within agreed time and budget and because of construction defects.
