Stuart Bingham is a professional snooker player from Basildon in England. He was 1996 World Amateur champion, but for many years he has been something of a journeyman professional. He reached the quarter-final stage of the Regal Welsh tournament in 1999, beating John Higgins along the way, and then shocked Stephen Hendry 10-7 in the first round of the 2000 World Championships, also qualifying for the tournament in 2002 by beating Nigel Bond. In 2004/2005 his best runs were 2 last 16 results, losing on a final frame to Ding Junhui in the China Open.

In 2005/2006, he has shown surprisingly strong form. He reached the quarter-finals of the Grand Prix tournament, beating Shaun Murphy along the way. He also won the qualifying tournament for the Masters tournament, scoring a 147 along the way, becoming only the 8th player to achieve this feat in 2 professional matches. He then beat Steve Davis in the preliminary round. After reaching the last 16 in two further tournaments in 2005/2006, a top 16 rankings position looked a possibility, however defeat to Ryan Day in qualifying for the World Championships ended his chances, although he did move up into the top 32.
