Stuttgart Spring Festival (Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest) is an annual beer celebration that takes place in the German city of Stuttgart between the middle of April and the beginning of May. The festival takes place on the Cannstatter Wasen grounds of Stuttgart's Bad Cannstatt district. It is slightly smaller than Stuttgart's Cannstatter Volksfest in the autumn (and therefore occasionally also called "small Wasen"). During the Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest one can take a ride on many new-developed attractions. The tallest attraction is the 47 meter ferris wheel. Opposite the Cannstatter Wasen there is usually a Looping roller coaster.

Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest starts Saturday with a beer barrel pass and the Mayor opens one of the barrels.

The Fruit Column, a tall wooden structure decorated with fruits, was introduced to the Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest in 1995. Originally it was only present at the autumn Volksfest but in 1995 it was left to stand on the festival site all year round. However, in recent years, this practice was changed and once again the column began to be dismantled in the autumn of each year, leaving just the base. This carries a large can during the Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest, since the fruit column is no longer all year round set up to that.

Accidents

Until the end of the 90's low hanging floor slabs were struck down by the guests in the "Weitmann" Festzelt. There were no personal injuries.
