What is the SubTractor Analog Synthesizer?
Encyclopedia : S : SU : SUB : SubTractor Analog Synthesizer
The
SubTractor Analog Synthesizer is a
software synthesizer included in the Propellerhead
Reason software package, based around
subtractive synthesis: two
oscillators generate "raw" waveforms (
sine wave,
sawtooth wave,
square wave,
triangle wave or 27 custom waveforms with various timbres), which are then passed through several
audio filters to alter the final result. Apart from the 2 main oscillators, the SubTractor also contains a noise generator, 2 filters (
high-pass,
low-pass,
band-pass and
notch), 2
LFOs and several
ADSR envelopes. The SubTractor is
monaural and has 99-voice polyphony. The subtractor is the only device in
Reason whereby the user is able to loosen and remove the four outside screws.
