Subsociality
Encyclopedia : S : SU : SUB : Subsociality
Subsociality among insects means parental behaviour. It is the second most important type of insect sociality. In many insects the mother, both parents, or even the father alone care for the young. In many species the mother or parents build a nest. Subsociality was almost certainly the precursor to eusociality in bees, wasps and ants.
