Sudden Death is a 1995 action movie, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. It also features Powers Boothe, Dorian Harewood and Raymond J. Barry, and is directed by Peter Hyams. It has been rated R by the MPAA.Plot
Darren McCord (Van Damme) is a former fireman, who disgraced himself a couple years earlier when he was unable to save a girl from a house fire. Now at game 7 of the NHL Stanley Cup finals at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena, he discovers the arena is being held hostage by a group led by Joshua Foss (Boothe), a former U.S. government employee, who is personally holding the vice president at gunpoint. McCord has found out the arena has been wired with explosives, and Foss plans to blow it up at the end of the game. Now, Darren must work to not just stop Foss's band of terrorists, but to also send the game into overtime.
Trivia
- The scene where McCord makes a bomb in a glass jar was later copied in Peter Hyams' The Relic.
