Sugarloaf Key

Encyclopedia : S : SU : SUG : Sugarloaf Key

Sugarloaf Key is one of the larger islands in the lower Florida Keys, from mile markers 20 to 17. It is called Sugarloaf because an Indian building there was said to look like an old-fashioned loaf of sugar. The island has a schoolhouse, a marina, and a strange old bat tower which is listed as an historic site.
