Encyclopedia : S : SU : SUL : Suleyman Shah
Suleyman Shah (Arabic: سليمان شاه) (Süleyman Şah, d. 1227) The son of Kutalmış (Kutalmish) was father of Ertuğrul, who was, in turn, the father of Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman Empire.
It is said that Suleyman Shah drowned in the river Euphrates and buried in the vicinity, the place now called "Türk's Tomb" (Türk Mezarı) or "Turkish Cemetery" and it is a sacred place for Turks. Geographically it is within Syria, but by the Treaty of Lausanne Turkey has rights for Turkish flag and a honorary guard there.
