Sully Erna (born Salvatore Paul Erna February 7 1968 in Lawrence, Massachusetts) is the vocalist for the hard rock band, Godsmack.

He is a vocalist and songwriter for his band. Erna can also play the guitar, which he sometimes does during live shows. He started out in music as a drummer, with the band Stripmind. In Godsmack's concerts, he sometimes plays on the bongos and stages a drumming duel with Shannon Larkin, the drummer. This battle has become a staple of the band's live show. Erna has also been in the bands Meliah Rage , The Fighting Cocks and Strip Mind. He has a daughter named Skyler Erna, born in 2002[link].

Religion

Erna is a practicing Celtic Witch and is a trained Laurie Cabot Witch. His religion influences Most of his songwriting, including the tunes "Voodoo" and "Spiral". He has stated publicly, however, that he "didn't want to be the poster boy for witchcraft"[link], and does not necessarily capitalize on his religion for providing fame to the band. In fact, the issue of his religious beliefs never comes up unless he is asked in an interview. Godsmack guitarist Tony Rombola has even stated in interviews that Erna is the only religious member of the band.
