SummerSlam 2005 was the eighteenth annual SummerSlam professional wrestling pay-per-view event from World Wrestling Entertainment. It took place on August 21, 2005 at the MCI Center located in Washington, D.C..

Sunday Night HEAT: Chris Masters defeated The Hurricane via submission
WWE United States Championship: Chris Benoit defeated Orlando Jordan via submission to become new champion (0:25)
*This was the quickest United States title change to took place in a match, lasting 25 and a half seconds.
Edge defeated Matt Hardy via technical knock-out when Edge knocked Hardy head first into the ring post.(4:00)
Ladder match for the custody of Dominick: Rey Mysterio defeated Eddie Guerrero Eddie's wife Vickie prevented him from winning the match. (20:16)
No Time Limit: Kurt Angle defeated Eugene via submission (3:51)
*This is Angle's fourth consecutive SummerSlam victory via submission using his ankle lock
Randy Orton defeated The Undertaker via pinfall after interference from "Cowboy" Bob Orton and an RKO to pin him. (17:11)
WWE Championship: John Cena (c) defeated Chris Jericho via pinfall after reversing one of Jericho's maneuvers into the F-U to retain (14:46)
No Holds Barred World Heavyweight Championship: Batista (c) defeated John "Bradshaw" Layfield Batista wins via pinfall after a Batista Bomb onto the ring steps to retain (9:08)
Icon vs. Legend: Hulk Hogan defeated Shawn Michaels via pinfall after the legendary Leg Drop (21:26)
