Sumoto, Hyogo

Sumoto (洲本市; -shi) is a city located on Awaji island and in Hyogo, Japan. The city was founded on February 11, 1940.
As of January 1, 2006, the city has an estimated population of 49,969 and a density of 274 persons per km². The total area is 182.45 km².
On February 11, 2006 the town of Goshiki from Tsuna District merged with the old city of Sumoto to form the new city of Sumoto.
Schools
There are five public junior high schools: Seiun, Suhama, Yura, Aiga, and Nakagawara.There are several high schools: Sumoto, Sumoto Jitsugyou, Yanagi Gakuen.
