Encyclopedia : S : SU : SUN : Sunday Bloody Sunday (film)

Sunday Bloody Sunday is a 1971 film which tells the story of a young bisexual man played by Murray Head, who freely jumps from the beds of his male and female lovers played by Peter Finch and Glenda Jackson. It is noteworthy for being one of the first widely distributed major motion pictures to show two men making love. The movie also starred Dame Peggy Ashcroft. It was the only film in which Peter Finch and Jon Finch both appeared (they are often confused, but were not related).

The movie was written by Penelope Gilliatt and directed by John Schlesinger.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Peter Finch), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Glenda Jackson), Best Director and Best Writing, Story and Screenplay Based on Factual Material or Material Not Previously Published or Produced.
