Encyclopedia : S : SU : SUN : Sunland, Los Angeles, California
Sunland is a neighborhood in the northeastern San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles, California. (Geographically, it is also part of the Crescenta Valley.) It is bordered by the Los Angeles districts of Shadow Hills on the west, La Tuna Canyon on the south, and Tujunga on the east, and by the San Gabriel Mountains on the north. The Foothill Freeway links it with downtown Los Angeles (via the Glendale Freeway) and to the San Gabriel Valley far to the east.
Like most of the San Fernando Valley, Sunland's development occurred largely in the 1950s and 1960s. Most of the district's housing stock consists of modestly sized single-family detached homes.
