The Surabaya International School in Surabaya, Indonesia, is a private, coeducational day school which offers an educational program from preschool (age 3 by first of November) through grade 12. The school, founded in 1971, is established under Indonesian law with the status of a foundation (Yayasan). The school year comprises 4 quarters extending approximately from late August to mid-October, mid-October to mid-December, mid-January to mid-March, and mid-March to early June. At the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year, enrollment was 211 (PS-grade 12).

Curriculum

The curriculum and materials are U.S. with modifications so that all students may return to their own countries or join other international schools with a minimum of academic displacement. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredits the School.

Faculty

As of the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year, there are 33 staff members.

Facilities

The school has 50 air-conditioned classrooms, 4 computer laboratories, a library, a gymnasium, a playing field, and a swimming pool.

Finances

In the 2005-2006 school year, approximately 95% of the School's operating income derives from tuition. Annual tuition rates are as follows: Prep 1: $2,739; Prep 2: $4,963; Kdg.: $8,951; grades 1-5: $9,775; grades 6-8: $10,293; and grades 9-12: $10,666. (All fees are quoted in U.S. dollars.)

PREP 1 - The annual fee may be made in three payments of $913 each, one payment for each term. The dates of the terms are 18 August - 21 November | 22 November - 15 March | 16 March - 16 June. Payments are due on the first day of each term. Prep 1 students are not required to pay the registration fee, nor are they required to have a Building Fund Certificate.

PREP 2 - GRADE 12: Tuition fees are payable by transfer in US dollars only. If individuals, rather than their employers, are paying the fees, payment can be made in three (3) installments. Each installment is 36% of the annual fee. Late payments will be charged a 10,000 Rp. per day fine. The due dates for these payments are as follows:
