Surtur is a fictional character, a demonic entity appearing in the Marvel Comics universe. He is the monarch of Muspelheim, and has clashed with Odin and Thor on many occasions. Surtur is depicted by Marvel Comics as an immense and malevolent being whose power is of apocalyptic proportions (he is the equivalent of Surtr in Norse mythology). Surtur is an ancient fire demon over 1000 feet tall. He is immeasurably strong and resistant to any harm; he wields energies on a cosmic scale (including, but not limited to, intense fiery heat). He is a threat to the very survival of the gods of Asgard.
